Can You Build A Website Online On A Small Budget ?

www

This one of the reasons it has kept many people from starting an online business or starting a blog to share your passion or a product you might have.

It really surprises everyone when I tell them the cost of building a website or blog. For less than $100 bucks you can have a professional looking website or blog if you are willing to put in a little sweat equity.

These are the main elements and cost of building a website or blog:

  1. Domain Name – A Domain Name will cost you about $10 to $15 bucks a year. You can get one at registrars like Namecheap.com. They are inexpensive and great support too..com
  2. Hosting Account – You can use a service like 1and1.com or Hostgator.com. These are two of the more popular hosting services and offer good service and support which is critical to having your website or blog up 99.99% of the time. Then cost is about $10.00 a month.web hosting
  3. WordPress – This is a platform used to build your website inside your hosting account which is free when you get your hosting account. WordPress is very user friendly and offers many options for making your site look and feel like a professionally built site.wordpress
  4. Email Autoresponder – This is an email management system designed to collect your prospects email information via Opt-In forms on your site. This will run you about $20.00 a month. Look at it this way, for every email collected from your prospects their value according to statistics is $1.00 per email. Which means that if you have 1000 emails your list is worth $1000 in revenue. An email autoresponder allows you to stay in touch with your subscribers and continue to build a relationship via a newsletter/blog updates where you can share your existing and new products with them.Email Autoresponder

This is the bare minimum you need to have your website set up and live on the internet.

Here are some tips to set up your website or blog.

You want to build a website or blog on a budget for your business, product or hobby but don’t know where to start. Lucky for you it is not as complicated as you might think.

In fact, you can pretty much make one for free with a free Domain Name. However, there are some things that you should know before you start building your website or blog.

I commonly come across business owners asking me, Why am I not getting any people to visit my website ? or Why aren’t people buying my product ?

One thing I want to clear up before going on. In this article I write about using your keywords for your Domain Name instead of the name you want to use. For example: You want to call the website CharliesPizzaJoint.com because no-one is searching for Charlies or Joint specially if you have a new business but people are more likely search for restaurants in local city name, pizza in city name, places to eat in city name, or pizza delivery in city name.

Hope you get where I am headed with this. If you have those keywords in your Domain Name preferably you will be more likely to get a trickle effect of traffic to your site more quickly then if you called your website CharliesPizzaJoint.com and as traffic starts and your site becomes more popular in Google’s eyes or other search engines you will see your web traffic increase.

Here are some things you should keep in mind when planning the build of your site:

  • Do a thorough market research to understand what your market is looking for so you can provide them with it. You can use the free tool called, Google Keyword Planner. It is free to use and will help you learn more about your market and help you find great keywords your consumers are searching in their browsers.
  • Now that you have some good keywords you could do a search at Domain Name registrars like Namecheap.com or Godaddy.com ( Paid Domain Names ) to see if it is available. I did say you could get a Domain Name for free and you can get one at www.dot.tk.
  • Once you have a Domain Name then it is time to find out where you are going to build your site. There are a few popular platforms available like WordPress.com, Blogger.com, Weebly.com, Wix.com and others. I usually use WordPress since I find it easy to use and easy to build a website without knowing coding or programming. They also have an excellent tutorial that shows you how to set everything up .
  • I also recommend getting an email autoresponder like Aweber.com, iContact ( Paid Services ) or use a free service like MailChimp.com to collect your visitor information so you can stay in-touch with them and offer them more tips, resources and products which increase your customer value.
  • Once you have your platform to build your site and your domain name then you are ready to write your site content. If you are selling something then your sales letter which must be specific about the benefits of your product and how it solves their problem. You can use testimonials ( Recommended ) and/or video (s) giving them valuable information which allows them make a decision in purchasing your product or at least a subscriber to your newsletter. Make sure that your content is unique, valuable and high quality. If you can you might even want to outsource this if you are handicapped as far as writing is concerned.
  • Now that you have your content on your site and everything is set up correctly it is time to share it with the world. This is the marketing aspect of the business. Share your site on Facebook, Google+, LinkedIn.com, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram and many other Social Media sites online. Here are the Top Ten Social Media Sites.
  • Use Press Release sites to let the world know about your site. Mashable.com shares the top 20 free press release sites here.
  • Submit articles to article directories sites where you can submit articles related to your site, product or market and include a link to your site in the author’s box not in the article itself unless they don’t have an author’s box then just leave one or two links back to your website or blog in your article.

I hope this gives you a head start into building your website or blog for any situation. Get my free ebook where I go over other tips and resources that can help you with your website too.

Doing Niche Research And Market Research for Your Blog or Website

What is Niche Research And Market Research?

Niche Research and Market Research is finding an area of the market you want to build your blog on and who your customer is and what are they looking for.

Here I will be going over the following:

  • How do you find your Niche or Market ?
  • Is there anyone looking for your niche, market or product?
  • Is there a market for your product ?
  • Who and What is your competition ?
  • Where is your competition ?
  • Here are some tools to find a market for your niche or product and how much competition you will have in your market.

Research

Google’s Free Keyword Tool – What this tool does is search the Internet to find how many people are looking for what you have to offer. This tool also gives you information about your competition and how competitive they are.

I have to emphasize that your market research is the most important part if you starting a business online. So, it is critical that you get this step right. Skipping over this step can be the difference between you enjoying success or not.

Once you open the Google Free Keyword Tool you will notice a box where it says, ” Search For New Keyword and Ad Group Ideas “.  Click on this and it will open a set of boxes where you input the keyword or keyword phrase you are searching for.

Below the search boxes you will find the Targeting Section on the left which you can select, Locations ( What Country ), ” Language “, you want your search done in, On the right you will find Keyword filters. Click on this and a box will open allowing you to select the amount of searches done for your keyword…put in 1,000 and at the bottom of this box you will be given an option to select, High, Medium or Low Competition. Select, ” Low Competition “.

Marketing Strategy and Tactics

This keyword should be related to the product or service you plan on selling. If the product is an ebook about teaching dogs to sit then your keyword phrase should be, “Train A Dog To Sit”.

Make sure you go to the sidebar on your left margin and click the box, “Exact Match”. This will give you the most accurate numbers of people searching for that keyword which is your product. You want to look at the “ Local Searches Area ” for your Market Research which gives you more exact results of search data.

Note: Google recently mentioned that they will do away with the option of selecting ” Exact Match ” which is disappointing because this is what us SEO guys use to find more targeted searches for our websites and clients websites.

Next you want to know how much competition you have. You must know how much competition you have before you build your website or blog and how much work it will take you to compete with other similar niches.

One of the ways to see how much competition you have is using the Google Keyword Tool.

You will notice on the line next to the keyword it will either say Low Competition or High Competition. Obviously you want to find a keyword that has at least 1000 searches a month and Low Competition.

There is also a nifty Toolbar that I use to instantly give me a snapshot of my competition. This Toolbar is called; ( SEO Quake ). This tool bar works great with Google Chrome and Firefox Browsers and now available as Beta for Opera and Safari too. You can read more at SEOQuake.com.

Other resources I find useful to size up my competition are:

  1. – Alexa.com
  2. – Ahrefs.com
  3. – Majesticseo.com

Here are some of the resources and tools I use to find affiliate products:

Amazon.com – Amazon is the largest retailer online with millions of products. They also provide you with the most popular products and the hottest selling products on the market. This gives you an unfair advantage since they have already practically been selling a popular product people are looking for.

Clickbank.com – Clickbank is an Affiliate Network that has over 10,000 digital dowloadable products on just about every niche you can think of.

Shareasale.com – Shareasale is another Affiliate Network that has digital products as well.

BlueSnap.com – BlueSnap is an Affiliate Network of Digital Software’s

Linkshare.com – This an affiliate network offering digital products and also service products like, Travel Packages etc.

CommissionJunction.com or cj.com – Commission Junction has been around for a while and they offer quality digital products as well as service products.

There is something for everyone regardless of what market or niche your in and the best part is that, It’s Free To Join!

Some of these affiliate networks have done most of the research for you so use this to your advantage. Keep in mind that you still need to do your market/niche research for your website or blog. Your Niche can be something you are passionate about like hobbies or something you enjoy doing.

How To Build A Blog From Scratch

Share with others...Thanks!
Share on FacebookShare on Google+Tweet about this on TwitterPin on PinterestShare on StumbleUponShare on Tumblr

In this article I am going to share how to build a blog from scratch and the important components that make up setting up a blog.

Build A Blog Or Website from scratch

So, What does it take to build a blog from scratch ?

  • The first thing is market research. You can use a tool like Google Keyword Planner Tool to do your research which is absolutely free.

This tool gives you information like: What your market is searching for via keyword and keyword phrases, how much competition you will have and what keywords to use in your Domain Name and blog content when making blog posts.

  • The second thing you should get but not necessary if your starting out on a tight budget. This is getting a Domain Name.

Getting your own Domain Name is the best way of branding yourself and getting found on the top search engines and should include your main keyword.

This keyword should be the one with the most searches and least competition you found while doing your keyword research.

  • The third thing you need is a hosting account. There are many hosting registrars out there like; Hostgator.com, 1and1.com, Bluehost.com and many others.

I have personally used Hostgator to build over 25 sites and have had a very pleasant experience with them and their support is awesome too.

If you go the free way of building a site then I recommend WordPress.com or Blogger.com. These two platforms and are the more popular ones but I favor WordPress because of it’s simplicity and how powerful this platform is in it’s versatility with the thousands of Themes and Plugins ( Only With Paid Service ) at your disposal.

  • The Fourth thing that I highly recommend is getting an Autoresponder like; Aweber, Verticle Response, iContact and MailChimp which is free but a little more cumbersum to use and limited to so many subsribers.

I have personally been using Aweber for years. If you want to go with a free service then MailChimp is great.

Why do you need an Autoresponder you might ask ? Because, ” The Money Is In The List “.

If you are going to have any success online then you need to build your emailing list so you can nurture and stay in touch with your subscribers and more importantly make continuous sales from your list over and over again as long as you provide solid, high quality products that they will benefit and keep coming back for more.

  • The last thing and very important is, Your Blog Content. Your content should be unique and of high quality if you want your readers to come back to your blog. If you are not a writer then or don’t know how to start your content, don’t worry. You will develop your skills as you go along and the truth is that people like content that is natural and not made up or stolen from elsewhere. Later you can outsource this if you wish.

*** Note: When starting a blog from scratch it is important to keep in mind your SEO ( Search Engine Optimization ).

Make sure that you find what your best keywords are and use them in your content sparingly and do not over stuff your content with keywords. Make sure that you use your keywords in your Meta Tags, Your Site Description, Your H1, H2 Tags too.

Take advantage of Social Media platforms and it’s power to share your content and create a following.

Hope you enjoy this post, appreciate if you share it with others.
